Several watercolors from our time on the beautiful coast of Puglia, Italy

There are many thatched roofs in the northeastern area of the Netherlands. I decided to let this one veer towards realism to give the viewer a sense of what being on the boat is like in this country. We were moored around the curve thus the canal appears off to the side.

Adding to the long series of watercolor paintings from my travels, Rural Singapore is the first from that trip. The large leaves, variety of colors vegetation, some which is not quite like what I have seen before, yield a strong impression of lushness befitting a warm and humid climate. The abstract elements provide diversity. We are doing more than just giving you what a photo could, another level of variety in form and color with which to feast the eye.

Studies for a larger painting. Images updated. Abstract
Not far from Lyon is the medieval, walled village of Pérouges. It’s name is derived from Perugia, Italy, a mountain town dating back to the Etruscans. Legend has it that French visitors to Perugia returned to France and then founded the town at least 1000 years ago. It is recognized as one of the most beautiful French villages, see Les Plus Beaux Villages de France. Human presence dates at least to 1500. For more see my entry at One of the most picturesque villages.
