  • Bolivian Dance at Midnight

    December 14, 2019

It was a bit past midnight.   We were on the way home from the theater, passing through Parque Turia, when we came across this group doing some worship dancing. There is an impromptu shrine to Mary in front of which they dance.

There were perhaps 100 people in the crowd.  Children were running about like it was afternoon.  People were laughing, watching the dance, clapping, chatting.

  • Dancing with Susan

We were good friends in high school and lovers for a bit after that, and still enjoy her company.  We danced at our 50th high school reunion, just us for a bit, silly and fun, a bit of swing dancing thrown in, as seen in the second painting.

  • Couple Dances IV

    Couple Dances IV

This is another in the Enamorado con Amor/ In Love with Love series, expression of affection in this case as in some of the other coming by means of dance.  Background reminiscent of Kupka’s “Madame Kupka.”

  • Couple Dances II

This addition to the Amor series explores again affection expressed in dance.  The first version of the dancing couple relied upon contours and left the background starkly white.  Here I’ve eliminated the outlining and given the background a stark treatment.
